Jonas Perkins   loved sculpting as a child. Jonas attended the famed Art Institute of Chicago and studied metal sculpture. He then attended classes at Institute Allende Art Academy of San Miguel de Allende in Mexico. Jonas moved to Texas in 1972, to live out his ''lifetime fascination with the early west''. He creates bronze sculptures, some of which , are nationally recognized. Regionally displayed are  two  larger than life-sized monuments: the Korean War Memorial and the Statue of Antonio Navarro... both located in San Antonio, Texas.  Also, a life-sized statue of Ludwig Von Borne, for whom the town was named, stands on the library's front lawn in Boerne, Texas.   Jonas Perkins'  unique portraits reflect the essence of his subjects' character and spirit.
